What is the difference between an HMO and a PPO?

An HMO usually requires you to use doctors and hospitals in that plan’s network and may need a referral to see a specialist. A PPO still has a network, but you can often see out-of-network providers at a higher cost, and referrals are less common. Rules and networks change by plan and Utah county. Confirm the current available directory for the doctors you use.

Can I keep my Intermountain, University of Utah Health, or MountainStar doctors?

Only if that clinic or hospital is in-network for the specific Advantage plan and year, or if you stay on Original Medicare (with or without Medigap) and the provider accepts Medicare.

Is Select Health the only way to stay in Intermountain?
